The cartoons represent a world of animated characters designed to enjoy the imagination of children. I remember with pleasure the joy that cartoons produced in my childhood, at the time they appeared on the small screens. Those beautifully shaped and brightly colored characters, which were fast or slow motion, which passed through all sorts of adventures and good always winning brought a ray of light in the innocent eyes and pure souls of children.

Horia Ştefănescu, Zaharia Buzea and Artin Badea created in 1974 the most beautiful characters for children, “Bălănel and Miaunel”, a dog and a cat that came into the world without knowing about the primarily conflict between the dog and cat. The creators of these designs have risked the mere fact that they made two mortal enemies become best friends and share all the moments of their existence. Bălănel and Miaunel were naive by nature as children are in their heart, who do not know the world beyond the crystal ball that surrounds them. They wanted peace in the world, love for their friends, also wanted to help the weak, the liars to be punished and the good always to defeat evil.

Small spectators loved so much Miaunel and Bălănel that the series which put those two characters in all sorts of life aspects had triumphed through the presentation of the cult of friendship. Thus, in 1982, these cartoons were over 60 titles and in the project were involved all creators from Anima studio movie.

Because they knew best how to show the friendship between cat and dog, they had appeared in “Revenge bulldog”, where they tried to temper the rivalry between bulldog Manole and the cat Pusy, so the two protagonists had come to discover the courage and lyricism.

In 2004, the Department of Public Health and the Studio Cinema Anima studio movie decided to restore Miaunel and Bălănel on small screens by creating an animated film called “A different Love Story”, in which the two stars together with their friends try to show how to protect yourself from AIDS, how to avoid sexually transmitted diseases.

Minimax is the only Romanian cartoon channel for young which has acquired the broadcast license for “Bălănel and Miaunel” to the satisfaction of grandparents, parents and children, because they can watch the two friends and many others like the penguin Pin-Pin, Mihaela, The Three Musketeers and Lady Meow.
