There are one summer artists, one year artists…but fortunately, there are artists of a lifetime. There are few singers who last on the stage and few artists who can survive the backstage games. Equally low is the number of the ones who can satisfy grandmother’s tastes, mother’s tastes and the new generation’s tastes. In Romania, the one who reunites all of these conditions is Loredana Groza, a true chameleon of Romanian music.
Before learning to write and to read, the little girl from Onesti learnt how to sing. Loredana Groza started singing as early as Cleopatra Stratan, at the age of 3. The young girl proved herlself to be multitalented, earning first place at the national Romanian language Olympics, being part of “Sburatorul” and playing violin for 8 years. Capable and ambitious, step by step, Loredana earned the status of artist. She became known at the contest “Steaua fara nume”. Few know that the girl with such a powerful voice was only 14 then, but her talent and her luck helped her to be part of a contest where the age limit was 17. From that on, Loredana found her lucky star an “Steaua fara nume” found the artist it was looking for.
Her rising is marked by her presence at “Mamaia” festival” where she wins the Big Prize. Soon after this, she launches hit after hit. The most popular is “Buna seara, iubito” with Ion Caramitru, which was remixed in 2001 and updated to the tendencies of the 21st century.
The rules of communism don’t stop her from shining. Her tours pass Romania and her voice is known abroad.
The influences of the years ‘80-‘90 don’t defy the artist’s music. She adapts to the new wave and reinvents herself, always fresh. Since the middle ‘90s, Loredana had live concerts with Directia 5, reaching the new generation’s favorite artist list. In this time, news about Loredana and Directia 5 don’t talk just about music but also about the artit’s personal life. The press reveals the controversial relationship with Marian Ionescu, the band’s leader. The snow ball becomes bigger once it steps on the PRO TV snow slope . There, Loredana meets her future husband, Andrei Boncea, executive manager at Media Pro.
Since then, her career is risen superlatively. The breakup with Directia 5 brings Loredana in front of new musical challenges. The singer approaches new musical styles, and every time proves to be successful. From featurings with Sisu and Puya, BUG Mafia and Marijuana, who helped her integrate into rap music, she launches an album with classical influences, “Diva Inamorata”.
Her last approach was to gipsy music. She had a great success, adapting to this new trend.
The look, style and life changes of Loredana raised her fans number, who have different ages. Loredana personalizes musical waves and brings a fresh touch with every appearance. Criticized for her suspect similar look to Madonna, appreciated for her impressive adaptation proved during her 30 something years of career, Loredana Groza is a complete artist, a singer with a voice which cannot be contested, a true experienced entertainer, a natural actress, a responsible mother, a woman who reached her status on her own feet, and most of all, a Romanian who brings the name of Romania proudly on the lips of every man.
