Romanian humor presents original elements as well as foreign ones ,due to the cultures that, during the centuries came into contact with the Romanian people. Among the elements that are common to Romanian humor,one can identify the following:French humor,Latin wellbeing and verve,German humor,Roma humor,Jewis agony and some oriental jokes called “Zeflemeaua”.
Of course, during time, the Romanian humor evolved, developing new characters, that have eventually become known as stereotypes.We can find characters as: Pacala,Tandala,Nastratin Hogea,later on Itic and Strul,two jews that want to take advantage of everybody.During communism a new character appeared called Bula.After the fall of communism ,characters like Alinuta,a stupid girld put in embarrasing situations,were succesful.

POLITICAL JOKES: they were in favor of the people during the communist regime even though they were forbiden.Nowadays they are as lovely as back then ,only politicians appear more egoistic and more power hungry than usual.

STERETYPES: the Romanian justice system,especially the police force.The majority of Romanian people don’t admire this institution,futher more ,they avoid almost all policemen.

REGIONAL JOKES: involve characters that are located in different regions of the Romanian landscape.For instance ,in Romania there are a lot of jokes involving Romanian-Moldavian people as well as people from southern Romania.

ETHNICAL JOKES: involve ethnical groups that can be found on Romanian teritory,especially roma people,hungarian people and german people.There are of course some jokes involving somali,russian,scottish and albani people.

Modern history remembers a few men and woman that have built their reputation upon their keen sence of humor and acting.People like:Ion Creanga,I.L.Caragiale,Jean Constantin,Amza Pellea,Toma Caragiu,Dem Radulescu,Stefan Banica,Alexandru Arsinel,Stela Popescu,Doru Octavian Dumitru,Serban Huidu.These pioneers of comedy and humor are just a small part of the  known artists.
